Guarnerio Lab
The Guarnerio Laboratory opened its doors in 2018 with a primary interest in understanding the molecular and cellular mechanisms of cancer. The goals of the Guarnerio Lab are to understand the interactions between highly aggressive cancers and the non-malignant cells of the tumor microenvironment in order to identify molecular vulnerabilities and develop novel therapies.
To dissect cancer-specific vulnerabilities, the Guarnerio Lab combines techniques of biochemistry, molecular biology and genomic approaches, in addition to the use of innovative mouse models. The ultimate goal of the lab is to identify novel therapeutic interventions for cancer and new strategies of precision medicine.
The principal investigator of the Guarnerio Laboratory, Jlenia Guarnerio, PhD, is assistant professor at Cedars-Sinai and David Geffen School of Medical at UCLA.
The Guarnerio Laboratory is affiliated with the Cedars-Sinai Samuel Oschin Cancer Center, Department of Biomedical Sciences, Regenerative Medicine Institute and the Radiation Oncology Department.
Personal Statement
I am a molecular and cellular biologist trained at Harvard Medical School, currently holding an academic appointment as assistant professor at Cedars-Sinai and UCLA. In my scientific career, I have been researching the cell-autonomous and non-cell-autonomous contributions to cancer and have focused my investigations specifically on leukemia and sarcoma.
